Rangers drop both games on Day Two to Roadrunners

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University softball team took on the Metropolitan State Universtiy Roadrunners on Monday, closing out their four-game series but unfortunately coming up short in both games.

The Rangers (28-21 overall, 25-14 RMAC) managed seven hits across both games, but fell to the Roadrunners (30-19 overall, 26-12 RMAC), 5-0 in Game One, and 9-0 in Game Two.

Game One | How It Happened: Sophomore catcher Rachel Williams jumpstarted the Rangers' offense with a double down the right field line in the bottom of the first, but the following hitters could not push her across.

With a hit in every inning except the second and seventh, the Regis offense stayed alive to battle back from a 5-0 deficit. However, the Roadrunners were able to score in almost every inning to take Game One, 5-0.

Game Two | How It Happened: The Rangers bats stayed unusually quiet, the only hit coming in the bottom of the second with a single from sophomore catcher Abby Larsen.

The Roadrunners scored three runs in the first, second, and fourth innings to secure their 9-0 victory over the Rangers.

Up Next: The Rangers will travel down to Alamosa, Colo. on Friday to take on the Adams State Grizzlies. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. (MT).

Regis looks to continue its hunt for a tournament seed as the second-seed is currently between Regis, MSU Denver, and Colorado Mesa University. The Rangers are currently tied with CMU while only one game behind the Roadrunners.
