Regis baseball places four players on RMAC All-Conference teams

| By:
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the All-Conference teams and major award winners for the 2023 baseball season on Tuesday, with four Regis University student-athletes earning recognition from the league's head coaches.

Leading the way for the Rangers on the ballot was senior first baseman Matt Marlow as he earned First Team All-RMAC honors for the first time in his career, following a 2023 season that saw Marlow lead the team in hitting with a .439 batting average; the fourth highest mark in the conference.

Marlow, who set the program's all-time runs batted in record this spring, also led Regis in RBIs (56), doubles (18), total hits (82), runs scored (56) and on-base percentage (.511) while posting a .994 fielding percentage.

Joining Marlow on the RMAC All-Conference teams were the trio of sophomore pitcher Mason Ashcraft, senior third baseman Colten Chase and sophomore shortstop Zach Daudet; all of whom were named Second Team All-RMAC.

Chase, a three-time Second Team All-RMAC selection, recorded his own school history in 2023 when he became the program's all-time stolen base leader. The speedy third baseman swiped 17 of his 60 career steals this spring while batting .365, driving in 41 runs and scoring a career-high 50 runs from the heart of the Regis batting order.

Daudet makes his debut on the All-Conference teams after earning Honorable Mention in 2022 as a true freshman. Spending most of the year atop the Rangers' batting order, Daudet hit a career best .326 during the regular season with three home runs and 38 driven in while scoring 49 runs. He also swiped 13 stolen bases and sported a .939 fielding percentage handling the everyday shortstop duties.

As for Ashcraft, the sophomore newcomer was sensational for the Rangers, especially in the second half of the regular season, after transferring in from the University of New Mexico.

Ashcraft led the rotation with a 6-2 record in 12 starts — 5-0 over his last six starts — while striking out 54 batters over a team-high 62.2 innings pitched. He also limited opponents to a .283 batting average and issued just 24 walks during the regular season.

Adding to his accolades, the sure-handed Ashcraft earned a RMAC Gold Glove after posting a perfect fielding percentage in 15 chances, including 10 assists and only three stolen bases against.

Regis and its four All-Conference players will now turn its attention toward the RMAC Tournament, which gets underway at 3 p.m. today with a first-round game against Colorado School of Mines out in Grand Junction, Colorado.
