GUNNISON, Colo - The Regis University Volleyball defeated the Mountaineers in a sweep Saturday night (25-18, 25-19, 26-24). The Rangers improve to 11-9 (7-3 RMAC) while the Mountaineers fall to 8-12 (5-4 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set was a competitive back-and-forth affair, with both teams exchanging leads early on. Western initially took control with a series of kills and service aces. However, Regis rallied, with
Bryn McNair contributing crucial kills to tie the set at 8-8. As the set progressed, Regis capitalized on going on a 6-point run with back-to-back kills from
Lindsey Cure, 21-13. Finally, Regis closed out the set 25-18.
In the second set, Regis started strong with an early 2-0 lead, bolstered by a service ace from
Giselle Cazares and a kill from
Halle Theis. Western fought back, tying the game at 6-6 As the set progressed, Regis capitalized on multiple attack errors from WC, pulling ahead decisively. The set concluded 25-19 in favor of Regis, thanks to a late service ace from Cazares, sealing their momentum.
Western Colorado (WC) started strong, quickly taking a 5-1 lead, but Regis fought back to tie it at 10-10, fueled by kills from
Bryn McNair and a service ace from
Braiziah Dixon. As the set progressed, both teams traded leads, with Regis gaining momentum through a series of key kills from Theis and Dixon. With the score tied at 23-23, WC pulled ahead, but Regis responded emphatically, ultimately winning the set 26-24 thanks to a decisive kill from Theis.

Joel List had this to say after the match: "We had a great refocus going into tonight's match. Western had a very aggressive serve tonight. Our serve receive group took the challenge and are ready for the next team to challenge us, we only get better with those challenges and western did that to us tonight."
