Skala Surpasses 1,000 Career Digs at Top-Ranked Metro

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Volleyball team dropped a match to #1 Metropolitan State University - Denver, 0-3 (14-25, 21-25, 18-25). The match was a part of Power Pod Play, and did not affect the teams conference records. The Rangers now sits at 11-10 (7-3 RMAC), while the Roadrunners improve to 20-1 (10-0 RMAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED

MSUD quickly took a commanding lead in the first set, going up 10-2 before a kill be Reagan Hickey ended the run, and a pair of Roadrunner errors brought the score to 5-10. Despite kills from Bryn McNair and Halle Theis, Metro stayed in command, and after a Lindsey Cure-Braiziah Dixon block, MSUD won, 25-14.

McNair had the first three kills for the Rangers in the second set, followed by three from Theis for the 8-7 advantage. The Roadrunner responded with a 8-2 run before McNair ended the streak, and Amelia Davis and Theis assisted a block. Cure and Dixon added a late block, but even paired with Metro errors, RU still fell, 21-25.

Hickey started the third set with a service ace, followed by a solo block and kill from Dixon, but MSU Denver rattled off eight straight before a Davis kill. The teams traded 4-0 runs, with RU's highlighted by a Hickey kill, and Hickey-Davis block. Bre Skala aced a serve, and a string of Metro errors brought the score to 15-20, but the Rangers were unable to mount a comeback, and fell, 18-25.

GAME NOTES

·        Skala led all players with 15 digs, including her 1,000th career dig

·        McNair led the Rangers with eight blocks

·        Hickey dished 19 assists

·        Davis and Dixon each posted four blocks

The Rangers return to action on Friday, Nov. 1 against #16 Colorado Mesa at Metro in their second Power Pod match.
