PUEBLO, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Soccer team tied on the road with #16 CSU-Pueblo, 1-1 on Thursday evening. The squads entered the match as the top two teams in the RMAC, and the point helps Rangers, who now hold a 7-2-7 (6-0-2 RMAC) record, on top of the table. The Thunderwolves now sit at 11-3-2 (6-1-1 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers took the first shot of the game, an off target shot by Elias Taubo, :40 seconds in, then Julian Fally and Ignacio Bellina both landed shots on goal in the 14th minute. Vasili Papadopoulos landed one on as well before the Thunderwolves had their first on goal shot, which was saved by Greg Squire at 33:12. Fally had one last shot on goal before the half expired, the score tied at 0-0.
The teams traded off-target shots over the first 10 minutes of the second before Bellina's try was saved, and CSUP answered with a goal by Jose Bustamante, assisted by Tobi Osifodunrin and Jack Pascoe in the 62nd minute. However, a red card by Pueblo would give the Rangers and advantage, and they would use it as Liam Corr scored from 40 feet out with just over two minutes remaining.
GAME NOTES
· Regis landed six of their 10 shots on goal, while Pueblo had only two of their nine on target
· RU had five more corner kicks (9-4)
· The Rangers remain on top of the RMAC table with 20 points, while CSUP is second with 19
