Stellar Serving Leads to Senior Day Sweep

DENVER, Colo. – The Rangers concluded the 2024 regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-19) win over Colorado State University Pueblo. The Rangers end the regular season with a 13-13 (9-5 RMAC) record, while the Thunderwolves sit at 16-10 (9-5 RMAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED

After falling behind 4-1. Amelia Davis put down three kills and Krissy Brei aced a serve to put the Rangers up, 5-4 early in the first set. They would fall behind again 11-8, before a Lindsay Cure kill and Braiziah Dixon-Bryn McNair block. Brei then added three more aces as a part of a 8-0 run that gave Regis the 20-14 lead. A Davis solo block and Reagan Hickey kill ended the set, 25-17 

In the second, Halle Theis would ace a serve, and Davis put down two back-to-back kills. However, a 6-1 run from hte Thunderwolves gave CSUP a 12-9 lead, and despite two Cure kills, they were able to balloon that to 23-18. Theis' kill spark a final run that included two Dixon blocks, one assisted by Hickey, and two Theis kills for the 25-23 win.

Brei would contribute two more service aces to begin the third set, well Giselle Cazares and Bre SKala joined the party with aces of their own. Back-to-back Dixon blocks, one assisted by Theis and the other by Cure brought the lead to 12-8. After a Davis kill, Brei posted yet another ace. Davis scored on a kill and a Theis-assisted block, while Hickey had the deciding point of the match on one final ace.

GAME NOTES

·        Brei recorded seven aces, tied for the most in a three-set match for the rangers, and tied for the second most in any Regis match

·        Davis led all players with 14 kills on .375 hitting

·        Hickey dished 33 assists

·        Dixon posted six blocks

·        Skala was the only player with double digit digs, with 10

The Rangers return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 19, as they host an RMAC Tournament Quarterfinal match, time and opponent TBD.
