The #2 seed is the Rangers best conference finish since 2019.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The match began with the field covered in snow, and it would continue to come down for the duration of the match, creating a slippery environment for the pivotal match. CCU would use that to their advantage, scoring on their first shot of the game at 7:10. The Rangers would respond seven minutes later, as Kaden Cameron found Elias Taubo to even the score at 1-1. After a pair of off target shots by RU, Taubo set up Julian Fally to give Regis the 2-1 advantage. The Rangers held the Cougars without a shot for the remainder of the half, while Regis had a pair of tries saved by Colorado Christian, going into the break up, 2-1.
Lucca Casci knotted the game up at 2-2 at the 53:06 mark with an unassisted goal, but just one minute later, RU earned a Penalty shot, and Johan Murillo capitalized on the opportunity to go back ahead, 3-2. Over the next ten minutes, Greg Squire saved a pair of shots by CCU, but allowed two goals, in the 67th and 74th minutes, and the Rangers found themselves behind, 4-3, with 10 minutes left. After Jack Shumkus' attempt was saved, Fally scored his second goal of the day on a Kyle Bergmeier assist, with under two minutes to go. Neither team managed another shot, and the match ended in a tie.
