No. 4 seed Rangers take on No. 5 Texas Permian Basin on Thursday to open DII South Central Regional

DENVER, Colo. – After being award the No. 4 seed for this week's Division II South Central Regional Tournament #1, the Regis University baseball team found out Monday the date and time of its first-round game of the three-team, double-elimination tournament, set to get underway Thursday down in Lubbock, Texas.

No. 4 seed Regis (32-22-1 overall) squares off against No. 5 seed Texas Permian Basin (34-23 overall) at 1 p.m. (Mountain Time) Thursday at the Hays Field and City Bank Clubhouse facility on the No. 1 seed Lubbock Christian University campus.

The winner of Thursday's game advanced to a 3 p.m. contest (MT) on Friday, while the loser of Thursday's game would play again Thursday evening at 5 p.m. (Mountain Time) against top-seed Lubbock Christian (41-14 overall), the Lone Star Conference regular season and tournament champions. The two remaining teams would then play in the South Central Region #1 championship game at 1 p.m. (MT) Saturday. If necessary, a winner-take-all game would follow at 5 p.m. (MT) for the right to move on to the Super Regional.

For the Rangers, Thursday's matchup with Texas Permian Basin will mark the first time in program history that the two schools have faced in each other on the baseball diamond. Regis split its two-game series against Lubbock Christian back on March 15-16, with the Rangers winning Game One, 11-6, and the Chaparrals taking the second game, also by an 11-6 final.

RMAC rival and No. 2 seed Colorado Mesa University is set to host the second half of the South Central Regional Tournament bracket this week, welcoming in No. 3 West Texas A&M University and No. 6 seed Angelo State University, the defending Division II national champions.

For fans traveling to Lubbock, online ticket sales were made available on Monday. Tournament passes are listed for $30 per person while single-game tickets are priced at $10 per person.
