Mountain Lions Late Goal Downs Rangers

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Soccer team hosted University of Colorado Colorado Springs in an RMAC bout on Sunday afternoon, but lost to the Mountain Lions, 0-1. The Rangers fall to 3-4-3 (1-1-1 RMAC) on the season, while UCCS improves to 6-3-3 (4-0-0 RMAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Regis would record the first shot of the match, but Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit's attempt went wide left. The teams would trade shots over the next 20 minutes, with the Rangers getting shots from Ignacio Bellina and Carlson-Du Toit. RU also took the first corner kick of the contest, but it was also unproductive. UCCS took the last two shots of the half, with one narrowly missing off the top woodwork.

The Mountain Lions came out of the break aggressive, with three shots in the first three minutes, two of which were saved by Regis keeper, Zach Jennings. Two more Ranger corners failed to find the goal, and two more UCSS shots were stopped by Jennings. However, after a Blaire Richard shot was blocked, the Mountain Lions took the advantage with a goal in the 83rd minute. Jacob Betancourt-Tovar took the Rangers' lone shot on goal in the 88th minute, but RU fell, 0-1.
