Rangers Fall to UCCS in Four-Set Home Match

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Women's Volleyball fell to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs at home Friday night, 0-3 (20-25, 13-25, 17-25). The Rangers fall to 1-16 (1-6 RMAC), while the Mountain Lions improve to 15-2 (6-1 RMAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Both teams came out with a spread-out offensive attack, trading points early in the set. Braziah Dixon and Bailey Nichols sparked momentum for the Rangers with a pair of kills to take a 9-7 lead, but UCCS battled back to even the score at 14-all. Dixon and Isabella Smith responded with back-to-back kills to push Regis ahead 20-17. However, the Mountain Lions rallied with a five-point run to close out the set, 25-21.

Regis opened the second set strong, jumping out to a 6-3 lead behind kills from Sabrina Landman and Bailey Nichols. UCCS quickly flipped the momentum with a seven-point run to go ahead 13-8. Landman reignited the Ranger offense, helping tie the score at 17-all, before Isabella Smith sealed the set with a decisive kill as RU claimed a 25-23 win.

The Mountain Lions responded in the third set, racing to a 9-4 lead. Despite kills from Kendal Allaire and Landman, UCCS extended its advantage to 18-8. A late kill from Jacie Kaniho wasn't enough to spark a comeback, as the Rangers dropped the set 25-10.

Carrying their momentum into the fourth, UCCS took an early 7-3 lead. Smith and Brooke Sanford fueled a four-point run for Regis to pull ahead 15-14, but despite late efforts from Dixon and Smith, the Rangers came up short, falling 25-21 in the final set.
