GRAND JUNCTIO, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Soccer team battled Colorado Mesa University on the road, leaving with a2-2 draw on Friday night. The Rangers move to 4-5-4 (2-2-2 RMAC) on the year, while the Mavericks now sit at 6-4-3 (3-1-2 RAMC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Zach Jennings started the match with a save, followed by a shot on goal by Elias Taubo and shots by Jacobo Betancourt-Tovar and Jason Robles. Taubo added another shot on goal not much later, and Blaise Richard broke the tie with a goal, assisted by Tom Devonport, at 30:38. The Mavericks responded with a goal in the 34th minute, but after landing a third shot on goal, Taubo was rewarded with a penalty shot that he converted, faking out the keeper with a shot to the left side. Regis ended the half with three more shots, but none on target.
Robles started the second half with two shots, including one on goal. Jan Grillitsch added two more tries, but that's when the defenses stepped up as neither team allowing a shot over the next 25 minutes. Rayhan Carlson-Du Tiot ended the drought, but with just :11 seconds left, the Mavericks drew afoul in the box, putting in a last-minute penalty shot for the 2-2 draw.
