Four Rangers in Double Figures as Regis Falls to Western


DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Basketball team suffered a loss on Saturday afternoon to the Western Mountaineers, 98-72. The Rangers fall to 1-6 (0-3 RMAC) on the year, while the Mountaineers improve to 5-5 (3-1 RMAC). 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Lance Mazur scored his first career points for Regis with a three-pointer to open the game. The Mountaineers quickly gained momentum, building a 12–3 lead. Cooper Frith answered with a three of his own, and Gunner Walters added a jumper to keep the Rangers within reach. Frith knocked down two more jumpers as Regis continued to battle, but still trailed 23–12. Dylan Forbord added a basket, while Walters connected from beyond the arc and converted two free throws. Frith closed the half by scoring the final four points for RU as the Rangers headed into halftime trailing 50–32.

Walters opened the second-half scoring with a layup, followed by jumpers from Frith and Matt Yost. Frith also went a perfect two-for-two at the free-throw line, and Forbord finished a layup to cut the deficit to 56–43. Walters later added another jumper, with Logan Flores-Peoples recording the assist. Regis then endured a five-minute scoring drought before Forbord ended it with a jumper, but the Rangers ultimately fell to the Mountaineers, 98–72.

GAME NOTES

Four Rangers were in double digits Frith (22), Walters (17), Flores-Peoples (12), Forbord (11). 

Yost grabbed nine rebounds. 

The Rangers shot 45.3% from the field and 42.9% from the three.
