DENVER, Colo - The Regis University Women's Basketball team fell in their RMAC home opener against New Mexico Highlands, Thursday night, against New Mexico Highlands. The Rangers continue at 0-4 (0-1 RMAC) while the Cowgirls improve to 4-2 (RMAC 1-0).
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Caitlin Turnbow would start off the scoring for Regis with a turnaround jumper.
Emily Allison followed with a pair of free throws, and
Kaylin Venick would get a layup, tying the game 7-7. Neither team would score for the next three minutes until N.M. Highlands would break the ice, continuing to score; they would lead 14-8 at the quarter.Â
Mary Crossland would hit one from downtown, but the Rangers trailed 11-19. Allison added a layup assist from
Savanna Staff. Crossland would hit the last bucket of the half with a pull-up jumper. RU down 17-31 at the half. Â
The Cowgirls would score the first seven points of the half, and Crossland would end their run with a layup, assist by Turnbow. Venick would get a layup followed by the next four points scored by Jessica Bollwhan, Allison got the last bucket of the quarter with a jumper from the paint, 29-51 N.M. Highlands.Â
Alicia Barajas scored from the line, followed by a three from Allison to get the Rangers started. Allison continued her run, scoring the next eight points for Regis; however, the Cowgirls maintained their momentum, winning 72-42.Â
GAME NOTESÂ
Allison led all Rangers with 18 points, a career high.
Crossland followed with 10 points. Â
Bollwahn grabbed 12 rebounds.Â
Alicia Barajas scored her first career points as a Ranger.Â
