GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Regis University Women's Softball team split a pair of games in their RAMC play opening doubleheader on Saturday. The Rangers lost the first game, 7-3, but avenged the loss with a 6-4 win. The Rangers now sit at 2-9 (1-1 RMAC), while the Mavericks are 3-5 (1-1 RMAC).
GAME ONE
Morgan Norris singled in the top of the first inning for the Rangers, and was quickly brought home on an Abby Larsen home run. Olivia Wick, the next batter up, launched a home run of her own to push the lead to 3-0. However, the Mavericks scored two of their own in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly and RBI single. CMU then took the lead in the bottom of the second with a three-RBI home run.
Mesa's momentum continued into the third, with a sacrifice fly to bring the score to 6-3. Two Rangers reached base in the top of the fourth, but were stranded there, as were two Mavericks in the bottom of the inning. A Mesa single in the bottom of the fifth extended the lead to 7-3, and although Regis had runners on in the sixth and seventh, they were unable to score and the Rangers lost, 7-3.

Wick led the Rangers, going 2-2 with one RBI
Larsen and Norris recorded the other two hits for Regis
Three Mavericks had two hits
Kylie Harpman (L, 0-2) recorded the loss, while Eliza Legge had two K's in 1.0 IP
Preslee Christiensen (W, 1-2) earned the win, and Jessalyn Gallegos (S, 2) posted the save
GAME TWO
Mesa took the first lead of the second game, with a three-run home run in the bottom of the first. Regis did not get a baserunner until the top of the third, when Isabella Porter was walked she did not make it home, and CMU scored again in the bottom of the frame with a solo homer.
In the top of the fourth, Larsen singled to center field, which scored Mya Chacon, and Wick singled, which brought in Norris. Bordine added yet another hit in the inning, which batted in Wick, bringing the score to 3-4. Wick then homered in the top of the sixth to even the score.
CMU earned two baserunners in the sixth, but RU held them scoreless, and in the top of the seventh, Norris and Larsen both earned an RBI to take the 6-4 lead. The bottom of the final inning went three-up three-down for the Ranger win.
