GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Regis University Women's Softball team split a pair of games in their RAMC play doubleheader on Sunday. The Rangers won the first game, 3-0 but fell 3-8 in the next game. The Rangers now sit at 3-10 (2-2 RMAC), while the Mavericks are 4-6 (2-2 RMAC).
GAME ONE
Ariana Ybarra started the first inning with a bunt, getting on base, but was left stranded at third. To start the second
Olivia Wick singled to the left center but never reached home. In the top of the third Ma Moore singled followed by
Morgan Norris being walked, both Rangers would be left on base.
Regis found the momentum in the fifth, Ybarra started with a single, Chacon would make it to second on a single and
Abby Larsen singled to center for a 2 RBI bringing Chacon and Ybarra home. In the sixth inning
Isabella Porter homered one to left field keeping the momentum for Regis. Rangers would not score in the seventh leaving one on base, but Rangers win 3-0.
GAME NOTES
Ybarra went three for three.
Five different Rangers recorded a hit.
Rangers recorded nine totaled hits while Mavericks totaled three.
Jessalyn Gallegos (L, 1-1) recorded the loss, while
Hallie Crappell earned the win (W, 1-1)
GAME TWO
The Rangers started the game with two runs. Ybarra singled to right, followed by Chacon who also singled, and Norris loaded the bases.
Abby Larsen flied out, scoring both Chacon and Ybarra, while Norris was left on base. Colorado Mesa added two runs of their own, tying the game at 2-2. In the second, the Mavericks scored one run, taking a 3-2 lead. The Rangers recorded two more hits from Norris and a double from Larsen, but both were left on base. Mesa then scored two more runs in the third.
In the fifth, the Mavericks recorded two hits and added two more runs, leading 7-2. In the sixth, Bordine and Ellison each recorded a single, and Chacon flied out to center field, scoring Bordine. The Rangers did not record any hits in the seventh and fell to the Mavericks 8-3.
GAME NOTES
Norris recorded two hits for the Rangers going two for four.
Ellison went two for three.
Colorado Mesa totaled ten hits from six different Mavericks.
