Rangers Rally in Final Seconds to Secure 75-72 Victory Over Griffins; Bryant and Egun Eclipse 1,000 Career Points

Salt Lake City, UT. – Regis University Men's Basketball team defeated Westminster University 75-72, on Thursday night. The Rangers improve to 13-8 (11-2 RMAC), while the Griffins fall to 11-10 (5-8 RMAC).  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
The Griffins came out with a hot start, going on an early seven-point run. Quinn Lambert found the back of the rim, including triples from Trey Bryant and Chase Mayo Harmon, as RU trailed 13-10. A jumper from Kobe Sanders put Regis on top 20-19 with eight minutes to go. Westminster stayed out in front, scoring the next six points. Bryant and Eddy Egun nailed two threes from deep, closing in on the Griffins, with RU behind 31-29. Lambert closed the half with a layup, assisted by Sanders, and Regis trailed 35-31 at the break.
 
Both teams traded baskets to start the second half, with Sanders and Mayo Harmon hitting from deep. The Griffins took momentum, going on a 12-point run and leading 55-43 over the Rangers. Ty Cox and Mayo Harmon ended the streak with a layup and a pair of free throws. Egun nailed key free throws down the stretch, chipping away at the Griffins' lead, with RU behind 61-56. Sanders found Bryant for a three, putting the Rangers within two. Westminster continued to answer, but Mayo Harmon put the Rangers on top with eight seconds to go. Bryant closed out the game with a pair of free throws, and the Rangers won 75-72.
 
"Tonight was a really tough game that challenged us in all lot ways. Our mental toughness in the second half was the difference," said head coach Bray Bergeson. "We were determined to win possessions, and we created just enough breaks to pull it out."
 
GAME NOTES
 
Three Rangers in double digits led by Eguns with 19 points followed by Bryants 18 points and Mayo Harmon 15 points.

Egun and Bryant both scored their 1,000th career points in the game. 
 
Bryant grabbed six rebounds.
 
Sanders dished five assists.
 
Rangers out shot Griffins 54.5% to 51.8% from the field and 52.0% to 50.0% from three.
