Rangers Split with Mustangs, Earn First Win of 2025

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Regis University Softball team earned their first win of the 2025 season as they split games in a doubleheader with Southwest Minnesota State University at the St. Cloud State Huskey Dome. SWMSU won the first game, 6-5, while the Rangers took the late game, 4-0. RU moves to 1-6, while the Mustangs sit at 1-5.

GAME ONE

The Ranger took the first lead of the game as Mya Chacon was able to steal home in the top of the first. Southwest managed to even the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the second with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the fourth, Abby Larsen singled to right, Isabella Porter was walked, and Mia Moore was hit by a pitch, which set up a three-RBI double by Ariana Ybarra for the 4-1 advantage. She then stole third, but was stranded there. The bottom of the fifth saw an RBI single from the Mustangs, but Regis matched that with an RBI double from Porter in the seventh, which brought home Lima Magana.

However, in the bottom of the seventh, SWMSU recorded five hits, and the Rangers committed one error, leading to five four runs, including a walk-off RBI single.
