GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Regis University Women's Basketball team dropped an RMAC matchup at the hands of Colorado Mesa University, who were receiving votes in the most recent D2CSC Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, 75-60, on Saturday afternoon. The Rangers drop to 9-12 (7-7 RMAC), while the Mavericks improve to 17-4 (12-2 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Erin Fry was the first to score in the game, following an offensive rebound from Fiona Snashall. She would then score in the paint on three consecutive possessions, but the Mavericks still led, 11-10. Athena Saragoza hit a pair from the line, but CMU ended the quarter on a 10-0 run, going up 23-12.
They carried the momentum into he second, going up 17 before Saragoza final ended the run. Snashall, Addison Branscum, and Taylin Serlen all added buckets in the paint to chip away at the lead, but Mesa was still ahead, 35-22, going into halftime.
The teams traded baskets to being the third period, RU being led by Saragoza. Mary Crossland and Fry each earned trips to the free throw line, converting their attempts, and Saragoza added a triple with just over a minute left, and Regis trailed, 40-53, going into the final period.
Mesa scored the first nine points of the fourth before a Snashall layup and Fry three-pointer. Saragoza's three with s:44 left sparked a quick 8-0 run that also saw a pair of free throws from Jessica Bollwahn. But it came too late, as another three from Saragoz and free throws from Fry left the score at 75-60.

Fry led all players with 23 points, while Saragoza added 19 and nine rebounds
Olivia Reed scored 22 for Mesa and added 11 rebounds
Snashall posted three steals
The Mustangs outshot the rangers from the floor, 45% - 35%, and from deep, 36% - 20%
