PUEBLO, Colo. – The Regis University Softball team completed a series with Colorado State University Pueblo on Saturday afternoon, splitting game with a 7-8 loss and 5-3 win. The Rangers now sit at 7-14 (6-6 RMAC), while the Thunderwolves move to 8-11 (7-5 RMAC).
GAME ONE
Morgan Norris and Jessica Isbell each had hits over the first two innings, but Ariana Ybarra would be the first to score, coming home on a wild pitch in the top of the third. That would be followed by a Norris home run which also brought in Mya Chacon for a 3-0 lead. Isabella Porter's sacrifice fly scored Isbell to make it 4-0, but Pueblo would record six hits in the bottom of the fourth, Regis committed one error, and the Thunderwolves took a 6-5 advantage.
RU would respond in the fifth inning with four more hits of their own, including an RBI single form Isbell to score Chacon, and an RBI single from Olivia Wick to bring home Isbell and Abby Larsen. However, CSUP kept the pressure on, evening the score at 7-7 in the sixth inning, and recording a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh for the 8-7 win.
GAME NOTES
· Isbell went 3-4, scored two runs, and batted in one for the Rangers
· Wick and Norris both batted in two runs
· Seven Rangers had at least one hit
· Madelyn Huerta was 3-3 for Pueblo
· Caitlyn Potts (0-4) posted the loss, while McKenna James (4-5) earned the 1.0 IP win
GAME TWO
Regis would strike first in the second game as well as Chacon stole second, then she and Ybarra scored on an error. A sac fly by the Thrunderwolves answered one of those runs, but the Rangers extended their lead with a two-RBI single by Ybarra in the top of the second, followed by Ybarra scoring on another error.
CSUP had an RBI double in the third, and even though Regis would not record another hit, Pueblo was unable to score again until the seventh. They would bring in a run on a sac fly, but the rally attempt ended there, Regis ahead, 5-3.
GAME NOTES
· Chacon was 2-4 for the Rangers, while Ybarra had two RBIs
· Chacon, Norris, Porter, and Mia Moore all had a stolen base
· Four Thunderwolves had at least one hit
· Eliza Legge (2-1) earned the complete game win
· Marissa Robertson (1-2) recorded the loss
