Rangers Fall to Cougars in Extra Innings

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Regis University Softball fell both games to Colorado Christian University on Saturday afternoon, 3-4 and 2-4. The Rangers now sit at 7-16 (6-8 RMAC), while the Cougars move to 18-6 (14-0 RMAC).
 
GAME ONE
 
CCU started the scoring early in the bottom of the first going up 1-0. Abby Larsen and Olivia Wick would record a hit, and Larsen would find home with Isabella Porter single to left field. RU would leave three on base tying the game at 1-1. Bottom of the fourth the Cougars would record two hits and two runs going ahead 3-1 on the Rangers. Lima Magana would score after being walked and an error from the Cougars bringing the score within one.         
 
In the top of the sixth RU would record two hits from Larsen and Jessica Isbell and a RBI from Wick, scoring Isbell. Neither team was able to score in the seventh inning, pushing the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the ninth CCU had the answer, and the Rangers fell 3-4 to the Cougars.
 
GAME NOTES
 
RU totaled eight hits, coming from seven different Rangers.
 
Wick and Porter recorded one RBI each.
 
Eliza Legge recorded the loss while Elyse McMullin got the win.
 
GAME TWO
 
To start the first, Jessica Isbell recorded a hit for RU but was unable to make it home. In the bottom of the second CCU found their rhythm, recording three runs and a homer from Elyse McMullin, Regis behind 3-0. Regis tried getting the bats going in the fourth from Abby Larsen and Olivia Wick but would be left stranded. The Cougars added another run, 4-0 headed into the fifth inning.
 
Chacon would get on base followed by Isbell to start the fifth, but RU would not score. To start the sixth inning Wick would get on base from a CCU error and Porter would bring her home with a home run. Ranger would record three hits and leave two on base in the sixth, 4-2 Cougars. RU would not score in the seventh, falling 4-2 to CUU.
 
GAME NOTES
 
Rangers totaled seven hits.
 
Porter recorded two RBIs.
 
Isbell went two out of four from the plate.
 
CCU totaled nine hits, McMullin went three out of four.
 
Kylie Harpman recorded the loss for RU while Duncan got the win.
