Rangers Give Cougars First RMAC Loss but Fall in Second Game

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Regis University Softball split the series to Colorado Christian University on Sunday afternoon, Rangers won 3-1 and fell 1-8. The Rangers now sit at 8-17 (7-9 RMAC), while the Cougars move to 19-7 (14-1 RMAC).
 
GAME ONE
 
Abby Larsen and Jessica Isbell would both start the second inning with a single, followed by Bella Bordine singling bringing Isbell home. Mya Chacon would bunt to start the third but would never reach home. RU ahead 1-0. Regis would leave two girls on base in the fourth. 
 
CCU would find the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh, scoring one run and forcing the game into extra innings. Regis had the answer, in the top of the eighth, Wick and Larsen began with singles. Morgan Norris then drove in an RBI, scoring Wick, and Isbell followed with a single, bringing Larsen across the plate. Regis led 3-1. RU would go up and down, Regis won 3-1 in extras.
 
GAME NOTES
 
Larsen would go three from four from the plate.
 
RU totaled nine hits, from five different Rangers.
 
Three different Rangers recorded an RBI.
 
CCU recorded three hits.
 
Hallie Crappell would record the win (2-3).
 
Elyse McMullin recorded the loss (6-3).
 
GAME TWO
 
CCU would start the scoring in the bottom of the first going p 1-0 early. The Cougars would continue hot bats in the second adding three hits and three runs, 4-0 CCU. Top of the third RU would get on base but would be left stranded. CCU would record another run in the bottom of the fourth, 5-0.
 
Top of the fifth, Porter would double, followed by Mia Moore single. Porter would score on a wild pitch, but the Rangers would leave one on base, 5-1 CCU. In the bottom of the sixth Cougars would add three more runs going ahead 8-1. Rangers could not rally in the seventh, RU fell 8-1.
 
GAME NOTES
 
Moore and Porter each recorded a hit.
 
CCU totaled 10 hits from seven different Cougars.
 
Ava Edwards received the loss for RU while Duncan recorded the win.

The Rangers will return home with a series Black Hills State, Saturday and Sunday (3/15-16) at the Regis Softball Field
