Regis Softball Splits Sunday Doubleheader with Colorado School of Mines

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Softball team split the final games of series Sunday against Colorado School of Mines, falling game one, 7-14, and dominating,11-3. The Rangers to 12-21 (11-13 RMAC), while the Orediggers fall to 8-26 (7-16 RMAC).
 
GAME ONE
 
The Rangers were the first on the board in the first, started by Mya Chacon and Ariana Ybarra singling and Abby Larsen would bring Chacon home, 1-0. Colorado Mines would get their bats going in the top of the second recording four runs on two hits, but would leave two stranded, 4-1 Orediggers. Rangers had the answer, Bella Bordine and Isabella Porter would start with a single each, Chacon would bring in Bordine and Porter. Ybarra followed with a triple bringing in two more runs. Oliva Wick, Abby Larsen and Bordine added a single each scoring another run for the Rangers. Rangers recorded six runs on seven hits, 7-4 Regis into the third.
 
In the top of the fourth, Orediggers would add two runs on RU making it 7-6 Regis still leading. RU would leave three on base in the bottom of the fifth. Mines would continue their hot streak into the fifth, scoring three runs, taking the lead 9-7.
 
To start the sixth, Mines added three runs on two hits, 12-7 Orediggers. Lima Magana would start the seventh with a single, but Regis could not find any momentum, falling 14-7 in the third game of the series.
 
GAME NOTES
 
Bordine would lead RU going 2-3 from behind the plate, adding one RBI and bringing in one run.
 
Regis totaled 10 hits from seven different Rangers.
 
Chacon and Ybarra added two hits each.
 
Taylor Wayne would get the win for Mines (4-8) while Ava Edwards would get the loss for RU (0-4).
 
GAME TWO
 
Colorado School of Mines were the first on the board bringing in two runs. The Orediggers would add to their lead scoring one run in the top of the third, 3-0 Mines. Regis would find their hot bats started with Chacon singling; Wick would bring her home with a triple. Bordine would bring Wick and Larsen in on an RBI. Rangers would take the lead 4-3.
 
Mia Moore added to the score in the bottom of the fourth with a triple and scoring on an throwing error from the Orediggers. Rangers carried their momentum into the fifth, with singles from Magana and Porter, Chacon would reach first on an error bringing in Magana and Porter.  Ybarra would hit one out of the park scoring three more runs for RU. Regis ahead 10-3. In the bottom of the sixth Regis would add one more run securing the win over the Orediggers 11-3.
 
GAMES NOTES
 
Ybarra went 2-3 from the plate, with one home run, bringing in two runs and three RBIs.
 
Chacon and Magana went 2-4 from behind the plate.
 
Rangers totaled 10 hits from seven different Rangers.
 
Caitlyn Potts recorded the win for Regis (2-5) while Kat Miller got the loss (3-10).

The Rangers go on the road for a RMAC series against Chadron State College starting, Saturday March 29th at 12:00pm.
