Rangers Roll Past Orediggers in Doubleheader Victory

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GOLDEN, Colo. – The Regis University Baseball team defeated RMAC opponent Colorado School of Mines in a two-game series, 16-7 and 13-5 Saturday afternoon. The Rangers improve to 26-11 (16-3 RMAC), while the Orediggers fall to 11-29 (6-18 RMAC).

GAME ONE
 
The Rangers came out hot, scoring nine runs on five hits in the first inning. Clay Conn led off with a double and later added another RBI double. Garrett Rede walked twice and drove in a run, while Adam Paniagua was hit by a pitch to help load the bases. Ethan Wood walked in a run, Jack Moulin grounded out to score another, and CJ Difiglia singled in two more. Nolan Johnson and George Smith each added RBIs before Conn and Rede finished off the inning, giving the Rangers a 9–0 lead.
 
Peter Goldy extended the Rangers' lead in the second inning with a two-run homer, making it 11–0 Regis. Colorado Mines responded in the bottom half, plating three runs on three hits to cut the deficit to 11–3. In the third, the Rangers struck again. Garrett Rede and Adam Paniagua opened the inning with back-to-back singles, driving in a run. Ethan Wood launched the team's second home run of the game—a three-run shot—to push the lead to 15–3.
 
In the bottom of the fourth the Orediggers added three runs on two hits but left two stranded, bringing the score 15-6. Orediggers would add one run to their score in the fifth.  To close off the game, Moulin would hit the third home run, final score 16-7 Rangers.
 
GAME NOTES
 
Wood went 2-3 from behind the plate bringing in two runs and four RBI's.
 
Conn, Moulin and Difiglia each had two hits.
 
Goldy, Woods, and Moulin homered.
 
Rangers totaled 14 hits while Mines recorded six.
 
Mason Ashcraft recorded the win for RU while Grady Booth got the loss.
 
GAME TWO
 
Conn would start the game with a single, Moulin and Difiglia followed with a pair of doubles bringing in three runs. Goldy would add a single bringing home Difiglia, 4-0 Regis. In the bottom of the second Mines would bring in three runs on two hits, bringing the score 4-3 RU.
 
In the top of the third, Moulin doubled to right field, and Difiglia followed with a home run, extending the lead to 6-3. In the bottom of the fourth, the Orediggers narrowed the gap, scoring one run on two hits to make it 6-5. In the top of the sixth, Moulin and Difiglia each singled, and Goldy brought Moulin home with a sacrifice fly. Rangers continued scoring on an Oredigger error, bringing in Johnson and Difiglia extending the lead 9-5 into the seventh.
 
Rangers would add four runs in the seventh with a double from Goldy, and a single from Conn taking game three of the series, 13-5.
 
GAME NOTES
 
Difiglia went 3-3 from the plate with a home run.
 
Moulin would go 3-4 bringing in three runs on one RBI.
 
Rangers stole eight bases.
