Rangers Snap Five Game Losing Streak

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Softball team defeated RMAC opponent New Mexico Highlands on Saturday afternoon, 5-2 and 8-4. The Rangers improve to 15-28 (14-20 RMAC), while the Cowgirls fall to 143-30 (7-27 RMAC).
 
GAME ONE
 
The Rangers struck first, with Olivia Wick leading off with a single. After stealing second, she came around to score on a Bella Bordine single to right-center, giving Regis an early 1–0 lead. Mia Moore singled to start the second but was left stranded. In the bottom of the fourth, Morgan Norris singled to left and Lima Magana followed with a double, but the Rangers couldn't capitalize, leaving both runners on base.
 
Regis added to their lead in the fifth. Arianna Ybarra and Mya Chacon opened the inning with back-to-back singles, and Wick followed with a clutch double to drive them both in, extending the lead to 3–0. Norris then flew out to right, allowing Wick to tag up and move to third. She later came home on a Cowgirl error, pushing the Rangers' advantage to 4–0.

In the top of the sixth New Mexico Highlands would bring in two runs, 4-2 RU. Magana and Isabella Porter started the sixth with two singles, Magana would score on a wild pitch, 5-2 Regis into the seventh. The Rangers held off the Cowgirls winning 5-2.

GAME NOTES
 
Wick went 2-3 at the plate bringing in two runs.
 
Rangers totaled 10 hits from eight different Rangers while the Cowgirls had three.
 
Vanessa Candito recorded the win for RU (4-3) while Karla Banega got the loss for NMH

GAME TWO
 
Regis would score the first run of the game, with a walk from Wick and a pair of singles from Norris and Bordine scoring Wick. In the second inning, the Rangers kept it going with a single from Porter and a home run from Ybarra bringing the lead to 3-0.
 
Regis would continue the momentum into the fourth bringing in four runs with a home run from Angelina Romero-Barros, 7-0 RU. In the top of the fourth the Cowgirls would score four runs on three hits bringing the game 7-4. Chacon would reach on an error from New Mexico Highlands and Wick would bring her home, 8-4 Regis.
 
Rangers would take down the Cowgirls 8-4 securing a 2-0 day.

GAME NOTES
 
Romero Barro and Ybarra homered.
 
Brodine went 2-3 from behind the plate.
 
Porter brought in two runs.
 
Halle Crappell earned the win for RU (5-5) while Jazmyn Grieg recorded the loss for NMH.

The Rangers continue the series with another double header on Sunday, April 13th, starting at 11:00 AM at Regis Softball Field.
