Roadrunners Overpower Rangers in Doubleheader

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Softball team ceded two games to RMAC opponent Metropolitan State University of Denver on Monday afternoon, 0-3 and 1-12. The Rangers drop to 13-28 (12-20 RMAC), while the Roadrunners improve to 31-9 (26-5 RMAC).

GAME ONE

The Roadrunners started the game with a two-out, solo home run in the top of the first to take an early 1-0 lead. Mya Chacon singled in the first, and Ariana Ybarra doubled, but a double play by MSUD left the Rangers scoreless.

After the second inning saw no hits, both teams had two hits in the third, but stranded their baserunners without a run scored. Metro scored a run in the top of the fourth on an RBI double, and extended their lead to 3-0 in the fifth on another solo home run. Mia Moore and Bella Bordine both had late hits in the game, but the Roadrunner's shutout held.

Both teams went three-up, three-down in the second, and although Regis had a hit in the third, and MSUD committed an error, two runners were left on base.

The Roadrunners had three hits in the fifth frame, scoring one run, but truly came alive in the sixth. Nine hits, including two home runs, and one RU error helped Metro score 10 runs. Olivia Wick had a single in the bottom of the sixth, but the Rangers fell, 12-1.
