ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Regis University Baseball team bested Adams State University (Colo.) in the first game of their final regular season series on Thursday evening, 12-3. The Rangers improve to 31-14 (21-6 RMAC), while the Grizzlies fall to 17-30 (13-16 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first inning, the Rangers would score in the first of seven straight innings in the game, as CJ Difiglia singled to score Ethan Wood. Garrett Rede singled to lead off the third, and was brought home on Maxim Fullerton's single. In the same inning, Wood's grounder scored Adam Paniagua, and Peter Goldy batted in Fullerton with a double.
The momentum continued into the fourth with a Paniagua sign that bought in Clayton Conn. Fullerton sent a home run into left filed that scored three runs for the 8-0 lead. The Grizzlies had their first hit in the bottom of the frame, but Regis continued to extend their lead in the fifth with a Rede single that batted in Difiglia. A solo homer by Wood in the sixth pushed the advantage to 10-0.
Adams State scored three runs in the sixth, including an RBI single, but that did not slow down the Rangers, as they scored another in the seventh, as Paniagua's double drove in Rede. Wood homered for the second time in the eighth with a solo shot, securing the 12-3 win.
