GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Regis University Baseball team, seeded No. 2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, lost to No. 5 Adams State University (Colo.) on Friday afternoon. The Rangers fall to 35-16, while the Grizzlies improve to 19-34.
Regis is eliminated from the RMAC Tournament, while Adams State Advances to take on No. 1 Colorado Mesa University.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Adam Paniagua earned a single in the top of the first inning, and Maxim Fullerton was walked, but both were stranded on base. One Grizzly was walked in the bottom of the inning, but picked off by Nick Jacobs. Zach Barnao was also left on base for Regis in the top of the first, and while ASU had earned a double and walk in the bottom, a double play got the Rangers out of the jam.
Two more runners were left on base for RU in the third, and Adams State would finally break the stalemate in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs on two hits and one Ranger error. Regis would get on the board in the top of he fifth frame, as Garrett Rede reached on a fielder's choice, Paniagua singled, and Fullerton was hit by a pitch, all setting up an RBI walk for Peter Goldy.
Paniagua added a double to lead off the top of the seventh, and Matt Graf reached on a walk, but again, the Rangers were left on base. Adams pushed their lead to 5-1 in the bottom with an RBI fielder's choice. Goldy was walked in the top of the final inning, but got no closer, and the game would end there.
GAME NOTES

· Goldy batted in the Rangers lone run
· Clayton Conn and Rede added one hit apiece
· Josiah Hall had three hits for the Grizzles
· Jacobs (5-2) recorded the loss
· Wyatt Zsidisin struck out four batters in 2.1 innings pitched
· Connor Murray (3-7) earned the win
