DENVER, Colo. - After 10 seasons as the Head Men's Basketball Coach of the Rangers, Brady Bergeson has accepted the Head Coach Position at California State University San Marcos, Regis Director of Athletics, Tommy Gilhooly, announced Monday morning.
"We want to thank Coach Bergeson for his passion and dedication to Regis University and all his student athletes over the years," said Gilhooly. "Coach will be dearly missed, we wish him and his beautiful family nothing but happiness and success in their new endeavor."
In his decade at the helm of the program, Bergeson compiled a record of 164-121 (.575), including 120-91 in RMAC play. The Rangers won the 2016-17 RMAC Tournament Championship, and made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament, in 2016-17 and 2024-25. The Rangers collected 27 wins in 2017-18, the second most in program history.
At Regis, Bergeson coached two D2CCA Second-Team All-South Central Region players, two RMAC Freshmen of the Year, one RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, 10 First Team All-RMAC Performers, six Second Teamers, and nine Honorable Mentions.
"I want to thank everyone at Regis University for allowing me to be a part of this special organization for the last 10 years," said Bergeson. "Regis is a special place. The relationships I have formed here will stay with me for life. I leave a part of my heart here."
Bergeson returns to California, where he played point guard for Chapman University while earning a bachelor's degree in Psychology. He also earned his master's in negotiation, conflict-resolution, and peace-building from Cal State Dominquez Hills.
