SEATTLE, Wash. – The Regis University Men's Soccer team, who were receiving votes in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, dropped a road match to Seattle Pacific University, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Rangers fall to 2-2-1 on the year, while the Falcons improve to 3-1-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It would not take long for the Rangers to get on the board, as Jan Grillitsch lined up a free kick just outside the box, and put in a ground ball to the left side. The Falcons would take the next five shots of the game, one being saved by Zach Jennings, and another finding the net to tie the match at 1-1. SPU followed that quickly with another goal less than five minutes later, taking a 2-1 advantage. Elias Taubo landed another shot on target for Regis, and Jennings saved another shot before going into the break.
After another Taubo SOG to start the second, and a Falcons attempt hitting the woodwork, SPU put in a third goal. Kaden Cameron and Grillitsch both took unsuccessful shots, as did Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit in the 80th minute. RU tried to push the offense late, with late shots by Derek Shoring, Carlson-Du Toit, and Jason Robles. But none found the net, and Regis fell, 1-3.
