DENVER, Colo- The Regis University Volleyball team fell to Fort Lewis College in an RMAC match up on Saturday afternoon, 0-3 (18-25, 20-25, 19-25). The Rangers fall to 1-11 (1-3 RMAC) on the season while the Skyhawks improve too 9-2 (3-1 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Sabrina Landman had the first points on the board for RU, but the Skyhawks would come out with an 8-3 lead.
Braiziah Dixon and
Jacie Kaniho would change the momentum for Regis, starting a six-point run. Tied at 14-14. Brooke Stanford and
Isabella Smith added kills, but it wouldn't be enough as Fort Lewis took set one, 25-18.
In the second set, Dixon and
Bailey Nichols connected early, yet Fort Lewis maintained the upper hand at 9-5.
Alayna Pruitt chipped in with a kill, followed by an ace from Landman, but the Skyhawks stretched their lead to 17-12. Regis fought back late, closing the gap, but ultimately fell 25-20.
The Skyhawks kept their momentum into the third, starting with a 7-2 run. RU would add a four-point run starting with a block from Sandford and Nichols. Regis continued the momentum, capitalizing on Fort Lewis errors and kills from Smith, 16-15 Regis. However, the Skyhawks turned it around, winning the match in three, 25-19.
GAME NOTES
Smith and Landman each had seven kills.
Nichols totaled four blocks, along with Sandford's three.
Nichols dished out 21 assists.
Krissy Brei had 12 digs.
