HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mavericks jumped out to a 8-0 lead before Gunner Walters assisted Cooper Frith on a fastbreak three. Luke Soden brought in two defensive boards, both leading to triples by Matt Yost and Walters, both assisted by Frith, which brought the game back within one point. Another CMU run pushed their lead to 19-9, ended by a Yost layup on a Rifky Sedhom assist. The Rangers stayed hot from deep, as Soden hit a pair of threes, and Walters added another, bringing the score to 20-26. Mesa continued to extend their lead, despite two more Soden three-pointers, going up, 46-28, but Dylan Forbord ended the half with a Yost-assisted layup.
The Mavs started the second half with five straight points, but Regis responded with two Walters-assisted threes, one to Frith and the other to Yost. While Soden and Logan Flores-Peoples converted baskets in the paint, and Frith earned a steal, but Mesa was able to keep the Rangers at bay. Following a Frith three, CMU went on another 11-0 run that was ended by another Frith three-pointer jumper.
