DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Volleyball team traveled to cross-town rival Metropolitan State University of Denver on Saturday evening, but fell to MSUD, 0-3 (16-25, 15-25, 18-25). The Rangers fall to 2-17 (1-7 RMAC), while the Roadrunners climb to 12-6 (7-1 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
While Metro took the first lead of the match, a quick run led by Jacie Kaniho closed the gap to just one, 9-10. Morgan Munro added a kill, and RU benefitted from multiple Roadrunner errors, but the home team used a big run, interrupted only by a Kendal Allaire kill and Kailyn Polzin-Munro block, to win, 25-16.
Polzin led the Regis scoring to start the second with a kill and solo block, but MSID still built another strong lead. A quick Regis run that included kills from Lynn Sanders, Alayna Pruitt, and Sabrina Landman brought the game within four, but the Rangers could not get it closer, falling 25-15.
Landman paced the offense to start the third as the teams would trade leads. Polzin added a trio of kills, followed by one from Ciara Williams, but after Landman's kill, the Roadrunners began to pull away again. Polzin and Williams assisted a late block, but MSUD completed the sweep, 25-18.
