BILLINGS, Mont. – The Regis University Baseball team concluded their series at Montana State University-Billings on Saturday afternoon with a 10-8 win. The Rangers improve to 6-7 on the year, while the Yellowjackets drop to 6-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Bobo Iandoli recorded a first-inning single, and Grant Belcher struck out two batters as the game stayed scoreless over the first two frames. In the top of the third, the Rangers loaded the bases with a Parker Burt single, George Smith walk, and Grayson Headrick hit-by-pitch. From there, Jack Moulin batted in Burt, and Ethan Wood's double brought in Headrick and Smith. Mason Pettingill then added an RBI single for the 4-0 lead. However, MSUB got one of those runs back with a lead-off double, followed by an RBI single.
Regus kept their momentum into the fourth inning, as Burt led off with another single, and Smith immediately added a double. An error helped Burt score, and a sacrifice fly by Iandoli scored Smith. Headrick stole a pair of bases, setting up another RBI for Pettingill. The Yellowjackets nailed a two-run homer in the fourth, and an RBI double in the fifth to chip away at the lead.
In the sixth inning, Billings earned another two runs on a home run and a sacrifice bunt. After both teams left runners on in the seventh, Wood singled to center field to bring home Iandoli, while Ayden Harrison tripled down the right field line, batting in Wood and Moulin. MSUB brought the score to 10-7 with an RBI double in the eighth. In the bottom of the ninth, Billings loaded the bases, and scored on a sac fly, but Nathan Ling caught the final batter swinging for the win.
