GOLDEN, Colo. – The Regis University Softball team picked up their first win of the season, 6-4 on the road at Colorado School of Mines on Sunday afternoon. The Rangers improve to 1-5, while the Orediggers drop to 4-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Jessica Isbell recorded the first hit of the game in the top of the first, and while Mines did not earn any hits in the bottom of the first, they did bring in two runs. Jane Quinn and Kristin Ingram added hits in the second, but would not score, stranding Ingram on third. Ava Edwards struck out a batter to get out of the bottom of the third, and with two runners on in the fourth, Sophia Garcia subbed in, catching one batter swinging to retire the Orediggers without any damage. With two outs in the top of the fifth inning, Eleanor Sikora pinch ran for Bordine, and scored for pinch-hitter Isabella Porter. She was then drove in by Ingram's triple down the right line.
Enyssa Dominguez reached on a fielder's choice in the sixth inning, and Janelle Erickson stepped up, launching a home run over center field, extending the lead to 6-2. In the bottom of the final inning, CSM loaded the bases with a single, double, and walk.
