HOW IT HAPPENED
After the Cougars went up 8-2 early, the Rangers tied the game at 10-10 off threes from Luke Soden and Nick Marabito, along with a layup from Dylan Forbord. Gunner Walters found Marabito for two more quick threes, while Forbord's steal led to a Soden layup and an 18-17 lead. The teams traded leads until back-to-back CCU triples put them up, 25-22. Forbord scored in the paint to end a three-minute scoring drought, and Walters set up Soden for another three, giving RU a one-point lead again. However, Colorado Christian ended the half with a 6-0 run, and the 36-31 lead.
Soden scored first out of the half, while Cooper Frith and Marabito added buckets to pace the offense. However, CCU had an answer each time, building a 13-point lead. Soden ended the run, but the Cougars continued to put on the pressure, scoring on five straight possessions. While Frith connected from deep, and Soden earned a three-point trip to the free throw line. Additionally, Frith converted an and-one and took his own three-attempt trip to the line. After a late block by Forbord, Walters came up with a steal, and found Forbord on the break, bringing the final score to 93-78.
