GOLDEN, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Basketball team recorded a defeat at the hands of Colorado School of Mines on Tuesday night, 99-72 on Tuesday night. The Rangers fall to 2-23 (1-18 RMAC), while the Orediggers improve to 15-15 (10-9 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Cooper Frith started the scoring for the Rangers, then came up with a steal that led to a Nick Marabito floater. Luke Soden threw down a dunk in traffic, but after Rifky Sedhom set up Dylan Forbord in the paint, the Orediggers went on a run, building a 28-10 lead. Forbord's turnaround jumper, assisted by Gunner Walters, ended the run, and Walters added a jumper of his own. While Marabito connected on a triple and a free throw, the Rangers went on a scoring drought until Sedhom scored on a pull-up jumper at 4:25. Forbord converted an and-one off an alley-oop layup, but after Soden hit a tough fading jumper, CSM hit a three and took a 48-30 lead into the break.
Soden found Forbord for a layup to start the second half, followed by a pair of layups from Walters. Logan Flores-Peoples assisted on a triple by Soden, then scored on a jump shot assisted by Walters, but Mines continued to have answers as they added to their lead. Sedhom recorded assists on back-to-back possessions, a Flores-Peoples three, and a Forbord layup, while Marabito and Walters both scored in the paint. Flores-Peoples nailed a three from the corner for the final bucket of the game, bringing the final score to 99-72.
