LAKE ELSINORE, Calif - The Regis University Softball team played in their last competition of the D2 West Coast Challenge but fell to Western Oregon 8-0. The Rangers fall to 0-5 while the Wolves improve to 4-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Western Oregon jumped out early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run.
Isabella Porter singled and
Kristin Ingram reached base after being hit by a pitch, but the Rangers were unable to bring either runner home. In the top of the third,
Janelle Erickson looked to spark the offense with a triple down the right-field line, but Regis couldn't capitalize.
The Coyotes added two more runs in the bottom of the third on another home run to extend the lead to 4–0. Western Oregon's bats stayed hot in the fourth, plating three additional runs. Regis was unable to mount a comeback, falling 8–0.
GAME NOTES
Freshman utility player
Kiauna Smith earned All-Tournament Team honors. This weekend tallying five hits—including two against Cal State Dominguez Hills—while posting a .500 on-base percentage, a .545 slugging percentage, and going a perfect 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts.

Caitlyn Potts took the loss for RU, 0-1.
Porter, Erickson, and Smith each recorded a hit for the Rangers.
Ava Edwards recorded a strike out for RU.
