Rangers Celebrate Senior Day, Record Two Close Losses

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Softball team played their final home doubleheader of 2026 on Sunday afternoon, falling to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in a pair of close games, 1-2 and 4-6. The Rangers fall to 13-33 (12-28 RMAC), while the Mountain Lions improve to 30-19 (24-16 RMAC).

GAME ONE

UCCS recorded three hits in the top of the first, but Regis held them off home, and despite another three hit in the top of the second, the Ranger defense still held. A Mountain Lions walk would be the only baserunners in the third and top of the fourth, and Regis got on the board first in the bottom of the fourth. Jane Quinn doubled, and Isabella Porter traded spots with her to go up, 1-0. In the fifth, however, a single, triple, and sac fly gave UCCs the 2-1 advantage. Both defenses stepped up from there, as no runner would even reach third for the rest of the game.

GAME NOTES

·         Quinn and Porter both had a double

·         UCCS posted 11 hits, however, Regis held nine runners on base

·         Vanessa Candito (L, 3-8) struck out two batters

·         Janessa Giugliano (W, 3-2) earned the win, while Autumn Kunze picked up her fourth save

GAME TWO

The Mountain Lions jumped out to an early lead with a two-run homer in the top of the first, but Regis got one back in the bottom, as Quinn and Porter both singled, and Quinn scored on an error. UCCS recorded another two-RBI homerun in the second, and went up 5-1 on an RBI single.

Adisyn Rademacher singled down the rf line in the second, and the Rangers scored two runs in the third, with Bella Bordine singling up the middle, scoring Quinn and Porter. A double form Rademacher set up a sac bunt RBI from Quinn in the fourth, bringing the game back within one. Neither team scored in the fifth, and while Rademacher singled in the sixth, she did not find home.

UCCS brought in their sixth run in the final inning, scoring as another runner was caught stealing. Porter and Kristin Ingram both singled in the bottom, and advanced on a sac bunt from Kiauna Smith. However, they were left there after a pair of strikeouts.

GAME NOTES

·         Porter and Rademacher both recorded three hits

·         Bordine batted in two runs

·         Katie Steinmetz was 2-3 with three RBI for UCCS

·         Caitlyn Potts (L, 1-3) recorded the loss. Autumn Kunze (W, 12-5) earned the win
