Wick Sets Game Played Record in Doubleheader Win

DURANGO, Colo. – The Regis University Softball team opened their final series of the year at Fort Lewis College on Friday afternoon, defeating the Skyhawks, 8-4 and 7-6. The Rangers improve to 15-33 (14-28 RMAC), while the Skyhawks fall to 13-39 (12-30 RMAC).

GAME ONE

Despite two Rangers being walked in the top of the first, FLC got on the board first with an RBI double in the bottom of the opening inning. Regis responded in the second, as Olivia Wick hit a two-out double, batting in two runs, followed by an RBI double from Adisyn Rademacher. After a Jane Quinn single, Rademacher scored on an error to go up, 4-1. The Rangers turned a double play to retire Fort Lewis in the bottom of the frame.

After two more Ranger walks in the third, Fort Lewis hit a homer to left field to cut into the lead, 3-4. Quinn added a single in the fourth, but a solo home run by FLC tied the game. Both teams left a runner on in the fifth, and despite a single from Eleanor Sikora, neither squad scored in the sixth either.

In the final inning, Kiauna Smith led off with a single, while Kristin Ingram and Angelina Romero-Barros loaded the bases. Sikora batted in Smith with a single, and Wick's double cleared the bases, putting the Rangers up, 8-4. The Skyhawks singled in the bottom, but the RU defense held for the win.

However, RU was held off home. The Skyhawks were the first to score, hitting a two-RBI homerun in the bottom of the second. Wick led off the third with a single, as Quinn and Bordine were walked to load the bases again. Smith singled to bat in Wick to get Regis on the board.

Another lead-off single for Regis, this time from Romero-Barros, to go with a walk and Sikora single loaded the bases for the third time. Wick sacrificed to bring in Romero-Barros to tie the game, while Rademacher laid down a bunt for the lead, bringing in Sikora. RU got three on again in the fifth, as Smith was hit, Ingram was walked, and Dominguez singled to short.
