LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Regis University Baseball team dominated crosstown rival Colorado Christian University on Friday afternoon, 12-6. The Rangers improve to 13-18-1 (4-9-1 RMAC), while the Cougars drop to 6-27 (2-16 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Linus Fleek started the game with a double for RU, followed by two-run homer for Ethan Wood. Ayden Harrison followed that up with a double, and scored on an error. Mason Grube recorded the third double of the opening inning, as George Smith singled to bring home Grube and Bobo Iandoli. CCU answered with three hits, including their own two-run homer, in the bottom half of the first.
Jack Moulin started the second just as hot for Regis with a triple to right, then scored on an error. However, the Cougars chipped into the lead again with another tow run homerun. In the third, the first two Rangers were put out, but they followed that with singled by Fleek and Wood, and a Moulin walk to load the bases. Harrison posted an RBI walk, and Parker Burt batted in two more with a single. Iandoli then cleared the bases with a homer over the right field fence. After Grube reached on an error, he stole second, and scored on Smith's double. Fleek's second hit of the inning scored Nicholai Arnold for the 15-4 lead.
Colorado Christin led off the bottom of the fourth with a solo homerun, but RU added to their lead in the fifth. Arnold batted in Iandoli with a double, Fleek sacrificed to bring home Arnold, and Moulin homered down the rf line to go up, 19-5. Two hits for the Cougars in the bottom of the frame brought in one more run.
Neither team scored in the sixth, but in the seventh, Fleek wore a pitch, Harrison tripled, and Burt doubled surpassing 20 runs in the match. Two strikeouts from Owen Mounier helped end the game, 21-6.
