DENVER, Colo. The Regis University Men's Soccer team, ranked #17 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, dropped a home, non-RMAC match to #3 UCCS to close out non-conference play on Sunday afternoon, 2-1. The Rangers fall to 3-2-2, while the Mountain Lions improve to 5-0-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers controlled the ball early, taking a pair of shots before Zach Jennings fired a ball up, finding the header of Abeam Wilson, who took the pass and scored in the top right corner. UCCS took their first shot in the 23rd minute, while Sahar Golov landed a shot on target at 32:21. RU took two more shots, and took a corner, while holding the Mountain Lions without a shot for the rest of the half.
Regis kept the momentum into the second, taking eight more shots to just two from UCC over the first 30 minutes. However, in the 78th, Springs landed their first shot on goal, and took over from there. Eduardo Macias set up a score for Lucas Taitt in the 82nd to tie the match, ad six minutes later, Macias fired a shot, then scored off the rebound of Jennings save. Tom Devonport took a final game-tying attempt with 10 seconds left, but it was saved by UCCS.
