PUEBLO, Colo. – The Regis University Volleyball team traveled south to CSU-Pueblo for the first match of RMAC Regional Pod play on Tuesday night, but lost to CSUP, 0-3 (15-25, 18-25, 11-25). The Rangers fall to 1-13 (0-4 RMAC), while the Thunderwolves improve to 7-7 (3-1 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams traded points to start the match, with Kailyn Polzin supplying kills for the Rangers. However, after Lynn Sanders tied the game at 6-6, CSUP went on a 10-0 run. A Pueblo error ended the run, while Polzin added three more Ranger kills. Lauryn Uyemura aced a serve, and Sabrina Landman put down three late kills, but the Thunderwolves took the first, 25-15.
Morgan Munro started the second set with a kill and a block assisted by Ciara Williams. Alayna Pruitt put down a kill, then assisted a block with Williams before Williams earned a solo block. Polzin and Kendal Allaire led the offense from there, when, trailing 13-19, Landman recorded back-to-back kills. Pruitt recorded one final kill, but CSUP still took the second, 25-18.
A spread out attack from Landman, Williams, and Polzin brought the score to 6-7, but Pueblo cruised from there. Polzin did record a pair of kills, and Nicole Shaver aced a serve, but CSUP ended the match, 25-11.
GAME NOTES
· Polzin posted a match-high 10 kills, while Landman added nine more on .333 hitting
· Shaver posted 19 assists
· Cady Knight led all players with 16 digs
· Williams led Regis with three blocks
· Lilly Zwart had 10 kills for CSUP
