COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Regis University men's cross country team opened their season at the UCCS Rust Buster this morning at Monument Valley Park.
The Rangers ran to a fifth-place finish in their season debut while earning 144 team points and having six individuals compete.
Leading the team in the race was Sophomore Liam Chavez who secured a top 25 finish in a field of over 80 individuals. Chavez finished with a time of 27:01.5 for 24th place with this being his best standing of his career.
Joining Chavez in the race were the group of Sterling Sharpe, Jace Ketcham, Carson Schuler and Cole Oese with all of them finishing between 49th and 54th place.
Sharpe and Ketcham both finished top 50 with Sharpe coming in at 49th place with a 23:33.1 time and Ketcham sitting in 50th place at 28:38.8.
Schuler took 52nd at 28:33.1 while Oese earned 54th with 28:53.3.
Alexander Sullivan rounded out the Rangers as the sixth racer on the day with a time of 34:10.8.
Sharpe, Ketcham and Oese all made their Ranger debuts in the race with this being the first of six events this fall.
