GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Regis improved four placings on the second day of play to earn fifth at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate.
At the end of 36 holes, RU was placed ninth with a 576 total. The Rangers posted a 287 on their final 18 holes to end with an 863. They were just five strokes behind Colorado School of Mines in fourth and 12 strokes behind the tournament champion.
Tyler Zhang played his best round on his final 18 holes. Zhang tallied a 68 to earn tied for ninth individually, best for Regis. He finished day one tied for 16th shooting a 73 and 69.
Carson Little jumped two positions to finish tied for 14th and with a 213, 54-hole total. Little posted his best score on his first 18 with a 67.
Collin Bordeaux shot a 78 on his final trip after finishing day one with a 70 and 72.
Austen Ancell followed three strokes behind shooting a 73 on his final 18 holes and reaching a 223, tournament-total.
Nicholas Tenuta, finished with a 229. 54-hole total.
Regis competes in the RMAC Fall Preview on October 9 and 10 in Durango, Colo. The tournament will be held at Hillcrest Country Club.
