AMARILLO, Texas –
Nicholas Tenuta tied for 22nd in the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional Tournament.
Tenuta finished the tournament with a final 18-hole score of 72. He played his best on his second round posting a 70. On his first trip around the course he shot a 77.
For the 54-hole total, Tenuta earned a 219.
He finished 11 strokes behind the individual tournament champ.
Tenuta averaged a 3.67 on par three holes scoring +8 all together. On the par fours, he averaged a 4.09 and just +3. He played best on par fives averaging 4.44 and -5.
He ended the tournament with 27 total pars, ten birdies, and one eagle.
His first 18 started out on a positive with a par followed by a birdie. He followed with a bogey on holes six and seven. He finished the front nine with a birdie and par. He kicked off the second nine with a bogey but made up for it with a birdie on hole three. Tenuta had his worst back-to-back holes on 15 and 16 with double bogeys. He completed the round with a birdie and par.
Tenuta had his best start on the second round. He shot par for the first four holes followed by back-to-back birdies. He added another birdie on the eighth hole before bogeying on the ninth. On the back nine, Tenuta shot a bogey on holes 12 and 16 but birdied on 17.
On his final 18, Tenuta remained within par until the eighth hole on which he bogeyed. He shot +1 on holes 11 and 12 before erasing the mistakes with birdies on back-to-back holes, 14 and 15. He sandwiched his solo eagle of the tournament between two more bogeys on holes 16 and 18.
