COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three members of the Regis University women's basketball team earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic First-Team accolades while five others were named to the All-Academic Honor Roll, announced the conference office this afternoon.
Shelby Espinosa,
Whitney Jacob, and
Alex Nelson received the top honors.
Espinosa, a Business Administration with specialization in marketing and international business major, boasts a 3.881 GPA. The senior is a three-year letter winner with two previous appearances on the All-RMAC Honor Roll in 2017-18 and 2016-17. Espinosa tracks down a team-leading 10.4 rebounds per game to total 208 so far this year. She contributes 4.4 points per game and has amassed 25 steals during her 571 minutes on the court.
Jacob posts a 3.703 GPA while majoring in Biology with a minor in Spanish. As a sophomore, Jacob leads the team in minutes, collecting 581 and averages 7.3 rebounds per game. She tallies 10.4 points per game on 35.7% shooting from the floor and has snatched 18 steals.
Nelson earns honors after maintaining a 3.69 GPA while studying Education. She averages 8.4 points per game while pulling down 4.6 rebounds. The graduate student leads the team in blocks with 15 and has intercepted 13 steals. During her time at Colorado Christian, Nelson was named to the All-RMAC Academic First-Team in 2016-17.

Tamara Brcina (3.759 | Accounting),
Emma Sterkel (3.386 | Psychology) and
Natalie Hull (3.340 | Health and Exercise Science).
Regis returns to action this weekend as they travel to Alamosa, Colorado on Friday, February 8 for a 5:30 pm contest with Adams State University.
