DENVER, Colo. – The No. 7 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team (8-0, 1-0 RMAC) opened up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play with a huge 19-7 win over the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks (1-3, 1-2 RMAC) on Friday afternoon.
How it Happened: With their eighth-straight win of the season, Regis matched the program record for best start to a season, dating back to 2017 when they team won their first eight games to start the season.
The game was dominated by the Rangers from the opening draw control to the final whistle. Senior
Sarah Myres opened the game with four of the team's first five goals. Sophomore
Kyleigh Peoples added the other goal before RU went on to open up a 10-1 lead after 22:41 of play. Fort Lewis scored at the first half, but Regis still held an 11-3 advantage after the goal.
The second half opened with a goal from the Skyhawks, but the Rangers countered with three-straight goals, two coming from Myres and one from redshirt-junior

Maya Quigley to extend the RU lead to 10 goals, 15-5 just minutes later.

Andrea Macalalad and Quigley gave the home side their largest lead of the game 19-6. The visitors managed to net a goal right before the buzzer sounded, but when the horn sounded, Regis walked away with an impressive 12-goal win, 19-7.
Game Notes: Myres (6 G, 1 A, 2 CT, 3 DC) led the charge with seven points, scoring on six of her eight shots. Senior
Grace Rosenthal (4 A, 3 GB, 1 CT) set new career-highs with four assists and three ground balls in the match. A total of 12 Rangers recorded at least one point in the match with eight of them posting more than two points.
Hurd (2 G, 4 GB, 4 CT, 5 DC) led all players with five draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Berg had three caused turnovers and two ground balls in the game, securing four draw controls for the team as well. Sophomore
Elle Crawford (W, 8-0) earned the win after spending 16:58 between the pipes, making one save and allowing one goal. Senior
Hope Correia spent 43:02 as the netminder, making a career-high 12 saves, and allowing only six goals, with two ground balls.
Up Next for the Rangers: The No. 7 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team will make their way to Pueblo on Sunday for their second matchup with the Colorado State University – Pueblo ThunderWolves this season. This time it will be a conference bout at 1 p.m. on the road.
