CLEVELAND – The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA), an organization that acknowledges the academic feats of Division II student-athletes, revealed on Monday its 2019-20 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards list of recipients, including 99 student-athletes from Regis University.
The Rangers, which had representation from all 12 athletics programs, were led by the men's soccer team with 19 recipients. The women's soccer team and baseball team both had 15 student-athletes earn the accolade, while the women's lacrosse team garnered 14 recipients.
From an academic-year standpoint, Regis's recipients were mostly comprised of juniors, who represented 37 of the 99. The tally also included 34 seniors and 26 sophomores.
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) was responsible for 967 honored student-athletes. RU ranked third among RMAC institutions that submitted their student-athletes, trailing only CSU Pueblo (134) and Colorado School of Mines (118).
There were 15,317 student-athletes who received this honor, representing 201 institutions. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) had 1,365 honored student-athletes alone, making it the most-represented conference for the second consecutive year. Gannon University of the PSAC topped all Division II schools with 219 honorees. Â
To receive an Academic Achievement Award, the Division II institution's athletics director has to be a current dues-paying D2 ADA member.
