COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second-consecutive week, a Regis University women's lacrosse player has earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Defensive Player of the Week. This week, it comes from someone who plays mostly on the offensive side of the field.
Sophomore attacker,
Gabby Rothermund, played very well in the 17-3 win over Westminster College this past Saturday. Though she plays the attack position, the way the game unfolded, it allowed Rothermund to flash her defensive prowess as well. When possession was lost in the Regis offensive zone, Rothermund was the first body there to create pressure.
The consistent pressure turned into a career-high four caused turnovers for the Dublin, Ohio native. Rothermund also picked up two ground balls and in addition to these impressive defensive statistics, she scored two goals and had three assists as well for five points. On the draw circle, Rothermund secured four draw controls, just adding to her impressive day.
This weekend, the No. 12 ranked Regis University women's lacrosse team plays host to the No. 25 ranked Colorado Mesa University Mavericks on Saturday at 1 p.m. The weather forecast is projecting snow, and other unfavorable weather, so stay tuned to
