Rangers Softball promotes Alexa Romero to Assistant Coach

| By:
DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University softball program is proud to announce the promotion of Alexa Romero to Assistant Women's Softball Coach.

Romero returns to Regis after spending a season as a graduate assistant coach of the program in the 2022 season.

"Being promoted to assistant coach feels like validation for all of the hard work I put in to my first year of coaching. My goal was to take the best of what I had learned from all of the different coaches I have had over the years and give that to the team. It feels good to know that what I did was received well and that they want more of it," said Romero.

Prior to coaching with the Rangers, Romero was a five-year starter at the Division 1 level at Syracuse University where she currently holds the program record in strikeouts per seven innings. Romero was also a NFCA Mid Atlantic Second Team All-Region Honoree in 2017, earned All-ACC Second Team honors in 2018, was All-ECAC Second Team in 2018, and Fastpitch News NCAA Co-Pitcher of the Week in 2018.

Romero also threw one perfect game and two no-hitters with Syracuse.

"I am so excited to promote Alexa to our assistant coach," said Regis head softball coach, Nicole Thompson. "Last year she really proved herself of being an impact on our coaching staff. In her short time here, she has elevated our pitching staff to new heights and has made it very competitive in the RMAC."

As a graduate assistant with Regis in 2022, Romero helped the Rangers' pitching staff to a 4.38 ERA with 294 strikeouts and ten shutouts. The Rangers' pitching staff also had an opponent batting average of .293 and freshman pitcher Kylie Harpman was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year.

"Alexa is a great fit here at Regis. Her passion and work ethic to help our pitching staff but also our program is relentless. She communicates well with the group and relates her own pitching journey to the girls. I enjoy working alongside her each day and also getting to build a great relationship with her," said Thompson.
